FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a saxophone quartet?

A saxophone quartet consists of four different sizes of saxophone including a soprano, an alto, a tenor and a baritone. Saxophones are very versatile instruments and can create a wide variety of atmospheres and moods. When choosing music for your event it is very important you know exactly what you are getting, so make sure you ask for our demo CD.

What style of music do you play & can you play during our wedding ceremony as well as the reception?

A Good Reed can play many different styles of music including classical, jazz, light popular favourites and show tunes. We can play during the wedding ceremony if you wish.

How much experience do you have?

We have over 20 years experience of playing for weddings and functions and we take pride in providing a bespoke, professional service.

Will it be too loud?

No! Saxophones can play quietly just as well as loudly but as an alternative we can also play clarinets and flutes. This is particularly suitable for music during a wedding ceremony or a dinner.

Can you play my favourite piece of music?

Yes, if we don't already have the piece of music you wish to be played then we can arrange it. There is an extra charge of £40 for this service.

I'm getting married in a hotel, what music would be appropriate?

Firstly it is important to check if the venue will allow live music. In terms of song choice, you will not be allowed anything religious. So, for example, Arrival of the Queen of Sheba is fine but Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring isn't! We are more than happy to discuss choice of music with you.

Can you help me choose the music?

Absolutely. We have huge experience of playing for weddings and functions, and know what can work well. Should you need any advice or help in choosing the music, we are very happy to assist you at no extra charge.

Do you require a deposit?

We require a 25% deposit of the total fee to secure a booking.

What distance do you travel?

We are happy to travel across the UK and abroad. Travel outside London and the Home Counties will incur additional charges.

Is there a charge for travelling?

Our fees include travel within London and Home Counties. Any bookings outside this area will incur travel fees.

Do you cover more than one event in a day?

Very occasionally if time allows, we have more than one booking on the same day. We will make you aware of this before the day of your event.

What will the quartet need at the venue?

We will need 4 chairs without arms. We can simply play acoustically or if backing tracks are required we will need to have access to a power point for our small PA system. If there isn't suitable lighting at the venue a power point will be needed for our small stand lights.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payments in cash or by bank transfer.
